Last week's Booking Through Thursday question: "Winter Reading: The northern hemisphere, at least, is socked in by winter right now… So, on a cold, wintry day, when you want nothing more than to curl up with a good book on the couch … what kind of reading do you want to do? "
During the winter, especially during the month of February, when I tend to be dealing with a grief-induced funk brought on by the anniversary of my mother's death, I go for escapist, comfort reading: romance novels or mysteries because I'm guaranteed an ending where the good guys get to live happily ever after and justice is served, or YA novels that can be read quickly. I also tend to favor the Harlequin Next line, a line of women's fiction that are usually very good and tend to be excellent comfort-read material.
